| Hello, found the incredible Edward II website and this forum whilst sick! I have had a keen interest in Edward II since my early teens. Re-reading 'The Follies of the King' from my sickbed this week, decided to search the net to see what information was on-line. So happy that I did! I confess I have neglected Edward for some years. My main area of interest has always been the Tudors since the age of 8. That led to an interest in the Yorkists and I 'worked my way back'. I have a BA Hons degree in History, specialising in the medieval period, with particular reference to the Anjevins. Since leaving university 20 years ago, I've neglected them as well! However, I've developed interests in other periods of history. I love to visit places of historical interest, and in regard to Edward II, I have visted his tomb in Gloucester, Berkely Castle and Warwick castle - though didn't have time to try and locate Blacklow Hill. I was born in Wales, and still live there - although am not too keen to recognise the Princes of Wales from the time of Edward I think Edward's reputation has been given a severe tarnishing. My 'favourtite' personality from the reign if Edward is Piers Gaveston. My favourite kings in general are Henry VII, KIng John and Edward II. | |

| G'day and welcome!
Hope you're feeling much better and glad to discover that you're "returned" to history.
Looking forward to your posts.

| Thanks for the welecome.
I've never lost my love for history - just widened my period of interest. The last 10 years or so, there's been an explosion in writing monarchy themed books, and they have become my indulgence. So many on the Tudors, and of course, I bought the books by Alison Weir on Isabella and Ian Motimer's 'The Greatest Traitor'. I remember at universiry being told that the role of the king in history would be down-graded and their significance would grow less and less (not sure how this could be done!) - this being the mid 1980's - but thankfully, the opposite has become true! It's been quite lonely being a history buff, but thank goodness for the internet!
